Joseph Campanella is Emil

 
 

A lot of the anger and resentment that Giovanni feels is aimed towards his family, particularly his Grandfather Emil, played by Joseph Campanella.  After a long, hard life, filled with regrets, Emil has recently realized all of the mistakes he’s made when raising Giovanni.  His sudden appearance stirs up some unavoidable emotions.


Veteran actor Joseph Campanella is the son of immigrant parents from Italy. He attended Columbia University and began his acting career on the New York stage and in TV soap operas. Over the next three decades, he would portray Joe Turino on The Guiding Light, Alec Fielding on The Doctors, Dr. Ted Steffen on the nighttime TV series The Doctors and the Nurses and Senator Harper Devereaux on Days of Our Lives. Additional TV assignments for Campanella included roles in Mannix, The Bold Ones, and The Colbys. Campanella played the lead in 1972's thriller Ben. His other roles in feature films include The Game, For Heaven’s Sake, and Save Me.
